I don’t identify myself as a writer. Personally, I don’t find writing enjoyable nor do I get any immediate satisfaction out of it besides knowing that I have completed a graded assignment, and I don’t like to read anything that I write. Since I was younger writing was my least favorite subject, and I never seemed to be very good at it. My greatest writing strengths are being able to write enormous papers the night before they are due and get a lot more work done as opposed to writing it in advance. My greatest writing weakness is that I’m not good at following the “proper” structure, and I always get confused with punctuation. I hope that this semester I will try and write a little bit every few days leading up to a big assignment so there is less work for me the day before, but I know myself and have been saying for years that I need to stop procrastinating and it’s most likely that I won’t change. My fears for this semester mainly just involve the topics we are writing about. I have never read Harry Potter and have only seen parts of the movies, I also didn’t know this whole class was based around Harry Potter so I’m scared to write about that just because it’s something I’m not comfortable with yet. Regarding the blog posts, I hope they help me further my writing skills and prepare me for larger writing assignments down the road so that I will have more confidence in myself.
